Chelsea are being linked with a new move for West Ham’s Declan Rice in January.
They were heavily tipped to sign the player they allowed to leave their academy system at the age of 14, but, in the end he stayed with the Hammers, where he has worn the captain’s armband in recent weeks.
West Ham are desperate to keep one of their biggest assets, and have offered him a new lucrative deal to stay at the London stadium.
That is despite the fact that he signed a new-long term deal in December 2018 that expires in 2024.
However, Chelsea still want him and are hoping to offload some fringe players when the window opens again to free up some space in the squad and also free-up some funds.
Chelsea were keen to use Rice in the centre of their defence, although he could also be deployed in his present position for West Ham and England of holding midfielder.
