Mikel Arteta has reiterated his stance with regard to Mesut Ozil.
With Arsenal suffering from a lack of creativity recently, questions are once again being asked why the club’s top earner and one of their most gifted players has been left out of both their Europa and Premier League squads.
Ozil’s social media team have also cranked-up the pressure by claiming that loyalty is hard to come by, whilst his agent Dr Erkut Sogut says the Gunners manager failed to get the best out of his client.
However, Arteta insists that he did his best to integrate Ozil into the team and that he tried “to give him many opportunities”.
He has also made it clear that his job is to look after the interests of the team and the club as a whole, and that he cannot make exceptions for one player.
As things stand, Ozil will continue to train with the club only whilst earning £350,000 a week.
