Ajax centre back Perr Schuurs is the latest name to be linked with Liverpool.
The 20-year old had a trial at Anfield two years ago but did not impress enough for them to make a move for him. However, his stock has since risen, especially following the departure of Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus, which has thrust him into prominence.
Schuurs had a fine game against Liverpool in the Champions League recently, despite his side losing narrowly thanks to an own goal.
Liverpool are looking for cover for the injured Virgil van Dijk – who came through his knee operation on the weekend successfully – with Fabinho also on the side lines.
Nathaniel Phillips was given his debut against West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, and acquitted himself well, but that does not stop the Champions from wanting to reinforce in that areas of the pitch.
