Manchester City are already beginning to consider alternatives in the event that Pep Guardiola decides not to stay with the club.
The 49-year-old Spaniard is out of contract at The Etihad next summer, and on talks yet have begun about a new deal. City would dearly love him to extend his stary, but Guardiola does not have a reputation for remaining in any job for too long, and he has been non-committal about his intentions.
Now an internal shortlist of possible candidates to replace him has been drawn-up, with Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsman heading it.
Pochettino, who has not worked since being sacked by Spurs last November, continues to be linked with every big job in Europe.
Nagelsman, who is still only 33 years old, is currently at RB Leipzig, where he has a burgeoning reputation, and is expected to take a position with one of the major clubs in the not too distant future.
