Lucas Torreira may only just have arrived on loan at Atlético Madrid, but already he has hopes of making the move permanent.
He has also said that he does not want to return to North London and Arsenal where he admitted to suffering from personal problems.
The 24-year-old was signed by the Gunners from Sampdoria in 2018, but he fell down the pecking order once Mikel Arteta took over from Unai Emery as manager, and barely featured after picking up an injury in an FA Cup tie.
Torreira moved to Atlético on deadline day and made his debut for his new side in their 2 – 0 win over Celta Vigo at the weekend. He also came on as a substitute in their Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, but that was a less happy experience for the midfielder.
His side were thrashed 4-0 by the defending champions in Germany.
Arsenal have signed Thomas Partey from Atlético in a separate deal as a Torreira replacement.
