Chelsea want to send goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga out on loan in January.
Kepa’s stock has fallen dramatically at Stamford Bridge since joining the club as the world’s most expensive goalkeeper in 2018 from Athletic Bilbao. He has committed a series of high-profile errors, the most recent of which came at the weekend in the Premier League match with Southampton.
New signing Édouard Mendy was unavailable for that match through injury, but he was back in goal for the Champions League match against Sevilla, and his performance was good enough for Frank Lampard to declare him his number one in the press conference after the game.
In addition, Chelsea also have Willy Caballero, and they even named Petr Cech in their Premier League squad earlier this week, even though he is now 39, and retired last year.
That makes Kepa surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and Sevilla has now emerged as favourites to sign the Basque player.
