Brighton defender Ben White has emerged as a leading candidate for Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a new centre-back after the news that Virgil van Dijk is likely to miss the rest of the season, and potentially beyond.
The Dutchman suffered an ACL injury in a reckless challenge by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford during Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
White impressed on loan with Leeds United during their promotion campaign last season and the South Yorkshire club made several attempts to sign him permanently during the summer.
In the end, though, he stayed with Brighton and has signed a new deal that keeps him at the Amex until 2024.
If White proves to be unobtainable, Schalke’s Ozan Kabak has been identified as an alternative.
The Turkish international made 25 appearances for the Bundesliga side last campaign having been signed from Stuttgart in 2019.
