Manchester United have first refusal on the next hot talent to come off the Sporting Lisbon production line.
Luis Gomes is only 16, but he has already drawn comparisons with Portuguese great Luis Figo.
Gomes has just signed his first professional deal with Sporting, and has agreed a five-=year deal with the Lisbon side, but there is also an agreement that, if they decide to sell, United will be first in the queue, with a £1`4 million transfer fee agreed between the two clubs.
Atlético Madrid also made enquiries about the teenager, but, he chose to stay with Lisbon, with Old Trafford regarded as his likely final destination.
He will follow io a long line of talent that have trodden the path from Lisbon to Manchester, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, and Bruno Fernandes.
United have already invested in youth recently, buying both Facundo Pellistri and Amadu Diallo.
