Chelsea still considering Milan goalkeeper

Chelsea are still interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan.

That is despite signing Édouard Mendy from Rennes on a five-year deal for £22 million in the summer.

The Stamford Bridge side were interested in Donnarumma before eventually settling on Mendy and may return for him next summer. The Italian international made his debut for Milan as a 16-year old, and has already made over 200 senior appearances for them, even though he is still only 21.He has yet to sign a new contract with the Serie A club, although negotiations are continuing.

Meanwhile Mendy was injured away on international duty with Senegal, which meant that Kepa Arrizabalaga was back in goal for the visit of Southampton on Saturday.

And yet again he did not cover himself in glory, with his mistake partly contributing to Southampton’s second goal, and failing to inspire confidence in a defence that dropped points yet again in a 3 – 3 draw.
