Southend United have signed Arsenal midfielder James Olayinka on loan until the end of January.
The move went through before the English domestic deadline closed on Friday.
However, it was only ratified by the English Football League over the weekend, meaning that Olayinka was not eligible to play for Southend in their home defeat to Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon.
He could, though, be in line for his debut away to Salford City on Tuesday.
Southend are currently rock bottom of League Two, with just two points from their six games played so far.
20-year old Olayinka has yet to make a first-team appearance with the Gunners, although he did make the bench for the Community Shield win over Liverpool at Wembley at the end of August.
Olayinka, who is of Nigerian descent. previously had a loan spell with Northampton last season but made just four appearances for The Cobblers in all competitions.
