Manchester United are interested in making a move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in the January window.
The 21-year old Frenchman was a target for United’s neighbours City in the summer, with reports suggesting that the Spanish club turned down a £50 million bid for him to move to the Etihad.
The French under-21 international has previously expressed a wish to play in the Premier League.
United though will need to move on several of their centre-backs who are still at the club, such as Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, who are both surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
The failure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to strengthen his defence over the summer has come in for heavy criticism, especially in the light of their most recent result, their 6 – 1 home drubbing by Tottenham.
So far this season, only newly promoted West Bromwich Albion have shipped more goals that Solskjaeri’s side.
