Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaquiri is staying at Anfield, at least until January.
The 28-year old was left out of the Liverpool squad for their Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal last week,a and again for the Premier League humiliation away ar Aston Villa on the weekend, with speculatin that he might be about to leave the club.
However, despite speculation linking him with moves to Germany and Italy, nothing concrete materialised, with Liverpool not prepared to listen to loan offers for Shaqiri. They turned down offers from both Roma and Sevilla to take him on short-term deals last January.
And now comes news that he is the latest Liverpool player to test positive for coronavirus, following in the footsteps of Thiago Álcantara and Sadio Mané.
The news was confirmed by the Swiss Football Association with whom he is aware on international duty. He is now in self-isolation and must remain in quarantine for a minimum of ten days.
