Tiemoué Bakayoko will be spending this season with Napoli, the French midfielder’s third loan spell in four years with Chelsea.
It means a reunion for him with manager Gennaro Gattuso, the man he played for when he had another spell in Serie A with AC Milan.
Last season, the French international had another loan spell, this time with his former club Monaco.
He returned to West London in the summer but does not feature in Frank Lampard’s future plans at all.
Chelsea had been hoping to sell him, but with the transfer market this year skewed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they have found no takers. Instead they are hoping that a good season with his new club will put him in the shop window next summer when conditions will hopefully be better for business,
Bakayoko is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2022. They paid Monaco £40 million for him in 2017.
