He only arrived at the Emirates at the start of the season, and he ahs yet to play a senior game for Arsenal, but the club are looking to loan out William Saliba again.
He was signed from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2018 for £27 million, but part of the condition of that deal was he spent last season on loan with them.
Saliba was widely tipped to compete for a first-team place at the Emirates this season, but ahs yet to feature in any of Mikel Arteta’s squads.
When asked about his absence after their Carabao Cup win against Liverpool on Thursday, the Arsenal manager said “we are trying to make the right decisions for him to give him the best transitional year for him to have the player we want in our future.”
Now it looks like the conclusion is that he is just not ready yet to compete at the required level and a further loan spell may be required for his development. Rennes from Ligue 1 are in active talks with the Gunners, although there could be late interest from a number of other French clubs as well.
