Marseille have approached Arsenal about taking midfielder Matteo Guendouzi on loan, initially until the end of the season.
The 21-year old has been out of favour at the Emirates since clashing with striker Neal Maupay after Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton at the Emirates in June, There have also been reports of disciplinary issues, and that he had been made to train alone.
He has been offered as a makeweight in various transfer deals this summer, but, wary of his reputation, clubs have been reluctant to take him. For his part, he has turned down interest from the likes of Villareal, Real Betis Sevilla and Hertha Berlin.
However, with time running out before the transfer window closes, and with Guendouzi seemingly having no place in Mikel Arteta’s plans, he is having to re-evaluate his options, and the Marseille move may be the best available to him right now.
