Sheffield United have bid £17 million for Liverpool striker Rihan Brewster.
The England under-21 international who impressed on loan with Swansea City in the Championship last season, has been attracting the attention of a number o clubs, among them Crystal Palace.
However, a sticking point has been Liverpool’s insistence on a buy-back clause in any deal – Palace were reluctant to accede to this demand, giving United, who are more than willing, to steal a march on them.
And now they have bid £17 million , whilst Brewster’s buy back clause has been set at £40 million.
United need a goal scorer after a disappointing start to the season. They have played three games so far, and have yet to score, remining pointless towards the foot of the table.
Brewster looks certain to leave Anfield before the transfer window closes, with Diego Jota’s arrival at Anfield meaning that his first-team chances under Jurgen Klopp are likely to be extremely limited.
