Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is close to joining Bundesliga club Union Berlin on a season-long loan.
The 27-year-old has not played for the Anfield side since his ill-fated appearance in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid, and subsequently moved to Turkish side Beşiktaş on a two-year long loan.
That arrangement though was ended early in May in a dispute over money, with Karius alleging that his salary had not been paid by the Super Lig side.
He has no future at Anfield with Alisson Becker now firmly established as his replacement, so another loan move would appear to suit all the parties involved.
Union Berlin were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history at the end of the 2018 -2019 season and went onto finish 11th in their inaugural campaign in the top flight of German football.
It is not clear whether the loan deal will include an option to buy.
