Welsh winger Daniel James will be staying at Manchester United this season.
That is despite intense speculation suggesting that the 22-year old will be allowed to join Leeds United on loan.
James initially made a strong impression when he joined United from Swansea City last summer, scoring three times in his first four games. However, he subsequently faded after that, and lost his first-team place to Mason Greenwood.
However, although reports that James, who is under contract at Old Trafford until 2024 was set to be offered a new deal at the club are unfounded, he still remains an important part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, the more so if attempts to bring in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund during this window prove fruitless.
James was picked ahead of Greenwood for United’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace last weekend but was then subbed at half-time as United lost 3 – 1 at home.
