Manchester United are edging closer to a deal to sign Porto full-back Alex Telles on a five-year deal.
A fee still has to be agreed with the Portuguese champions, and he has a releasee clause of £37 million but it is expected that, given he is in the final year of his current contract with the Portuguese side, that a lower fee than that can be negotiated.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add more competition into his squad for the left-back berth, with Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams the current contenders for the spot.
If Telles does make the switch to Old Trafford, he will be their second signing of the summer window, after the arrival of midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
In Porto’s opening day season win against Braga at the weekend, Telles scored twice from the penalty spot, and provided an assist for the third, as his side won 3 – 1.
Telles won his only cap for Brazil against Panama last year.
