Tottenham have too many players.
That is according to their manager Jose Mourinho, who is looking to supplement those numbers by bringing in Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilón from Real Madrid in the next few days.
In particular, they have too many options in midfield, and their numbers may need to be thinned before the transfer window closes.
He said “I don’t like the number of players I have in my squad – it is very difficult to manage this situation, too many players”.
He has been very critical of the decision to revert to the system of only three subs allowed per game, with a maximum of seven players on the bench, believing that this gives a manager less chance to manage player fatigue.
One player who continues to be linked with a move away from North London is Dele Alli. He is variously reported to be part of the deal to bring Bale back to the club that he left in 2013, or to be ready to move to a new club, with both PSG and Inter Milan tracking his situation.
