Former Liverpool player Nathaniel Clyne is training with Crystal Place in a bid to recover his fitness.
And there are hopes that he could earn a deal with the South London club if he can prove that his body can withstand the rigours of the Premier League.
Clyne began his professional career with Palace and made 122 league appearances for them before joining Southampton in 2012.
Clyne has not played a competitive game since December 2018 and missed the whole of last season with an ACL injury, having previously had problems.
Liverpool decided in June that his contract would not be renewed, and he was allowed to leave the club as a free agent.
If he does join Palace again, it will mean a reunion with Roy Hodgson, the man under whom he earned all but one of his 14 England caps.
Palace also have right-back Nathan Ferguson on their books, but he is recovering from his own long-term knee injury.
