Sheffield United bid for Arsenal striker

Sheffield United have made a bid to sign young Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

The 19-year old is set to be sold by the Gunners this summer because he is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates and has refused to sign a new deal with the club.

However, United’s initial offer of £3 million plus add-ons has been rejected by the North London side, who reportedly want five times that amount for the forward.

Balogun has been prolific at under18 and under-23 level for Arsenal but has never made a senior first-team appearance with them. Frustrated by his lack of opportunities, he is now looking for a new challenge.

Confirming their interest Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder said “we made an enquiry regarding the young man at Arsenal”.  He went on to imply that the deal was not dead, saying that it was now a matter of discussion between his CEO and Arsenal.

United are not the only club interested in him though. Brentford, Southampton, Brighton, and AC Milan are all keeping tabs on his situation.
