Leeds United want to hijack Chelsea’s plans for England under-21 midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The 20-year old is set to sign a new deal with the West London club, and then he will be sent out on loan, with West Brom, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace all interested in a short-term deal for him.
However, now Leeds want to sign him on a permanent deal; having watched him they believe that he would suit the style of football that Marcelo Bielsa likes to play.
He is highly rated at Stamford Bridge, but with intense competition for places, they may be tempted to sell him, although that would be against the wishes of manager Frank Lampard, who rates him as a prospect for the future.
A product of the Chelsea youth academy, he had two previous loan spells last season in the Championship with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City. He has yet to make a senior appearance in a Chelsea shirt.
