Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn is to spend next season on loan in the Eredivisie with Sparta Rotterdam.
Woodburn’s progress has been hampered by injury in recent seasons, which interrupted his two previous loan spells with Sheffield United and Oxford United, but it is hoped that he can rediscover his form and fitness with the Dutch side.
Woodburn made headlines when, as a 17-year old, he became Liverpool’s youngest ever scorer in an EFL Cup tie against Leeds United. And a year later, he scored on his international debut for Wales against Austria.
Since then though, injuries have interceded, which included breaking both feet in separate incidents whilst playing for Oxford last season.
Sparta finished 11th in the Eredivisie last season and they will be hoping to improve on that in the coming campaign. They begin their new league season this weekend at home to Ajax, who will start favourites to win the Dutch title yet again.
