Lucas Torreira will leave Arsenal in the next few days and join Serie A side Fiorentina.
The Uruguayan international midfielder will join the Italian team on loan for next season, but the deal will contain an obligation to buy at the end of it. The total deal is worth €24 million – €8 million for the loan fee, and then a purchase price of €16 million.
That is less than the €28 million the Gunners paid Sampdoria for him two years ago, but it is recognised as a reasonable fee in the current market.
The deal though still has to be sanctioned by Mikel Arteta, who fears he could be light in midfield ahead of his team’s opening Premier League fixture at Fulham.
Dani Ceballos has arrived back in the country having completed the formalities for his second loan spell with the club, but he is unlikely to be available for next weekend due to the requite Covid-19 health protocols.
