Ceballos returns to Arsenal

Dani Ceballos has returned to Arsenal for a second season on loan.

The 24-year-old Spaniard spent the 2019-20 season on loan in North London from his parent club, and both parties had made it clear that they were happy for the arrangement to continue.

That was despite him being recalled to Madrid in the summer, where he had offers to join other La Liga sides.

However, after some hard negotiations he has returned to the Emirates, with half an eye on the European Championships next summer. Ceballos wants to be part of the Spain squad, and knows that playing for Arsenal is more high profile than many of his other options.

The Gunners will be hoping they can get more out of him creatively this time – two goals and two in 37 appearances was a meagre return for someone of his talents.

Ceballos said “I had a great time at this club last season and there was never any doubt in my mind that I wanted to come back.”.

He will miss the first game of the new season because he has to complete quarantine protocols.
