Roma have re-opened negotiations with Manchester United over central defender Chris Smalling.
The 30-year old spent a highly successful loan spell with the Serie A side last season, and wanted to remain in Italy.
However, he was forced to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season after the two sides were unable to agree a valuation for him.
At the time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had appeared to leave the door open for him as a Manchester United player, even though he appears to be well down the pecking order there now.
However, it looks like he could be set to return to Roma, this time permanently, although they may need to improve on their initial €12 million (£11 million) offer.
United have previously held out for £20 million for the former England international, but may be willing to compromise to get a deal done.
