Manchester United have agreed a fee with Ajax to sign midfielder Donny van de Beek.
A total of £40 million will be paid to bring the Dutch international to Old Trafford. Although personal terms and a medical have still to be finalised, the formalities are expected to be completed in the next few days. He should be free then to play in United’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on September 19th.
He will be United’s first signing of the summer.
Van de Beek joined the Ajax academy system when he was 11, and has progressed through the ranks, going on to make 175 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring 41 goals.
He won the league and cup double with them in the 2018 -2019 season and was part of the team that reached the Champions League semi-final during that campaign as well.
He has 10 senior caps for the Dutch national side.
