Arsenal defender Rob Holding is set to join Newcastle United on a season-long loan.
The 24-year old joined the Gunners from Bolton Wanderers in 2016 and has gone on to win two FA Cup Winners medals with them, although he missed much of last season after incurring an ACL-injury.
Holding is under contract at the Emirates until 2023, but there is competition for places at centre-back, with William Saliba having now joined the club on a permanent basis, and Lille defender Gabriel Magalhães close to completing his own transfer.
There have also been reports that Calum Chambers, Sokratis Papasthathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi could all be moved on during the current window as well, as Mikel Arteta continues his attempts to rebalance his squad.
Already several other centre-backs have departed Arsenal on loan this summer, Including Dinos Mavropanos who has joined Stuttgart and Zach Medley who will be playing for Gillingham this season.
Holding helped Arsenal win the Community Shield on Saturday, beating Liverpool on penalties.
