Manchester United are reported to have made an approach to Italian side Brescia with a view for a move for highly rated midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has been compared to a young Andrea Pirlo.
They face strong competition though from Inter Milan, who are trying to finalise a loan deal for the 20-year-old, with an obligation to buy next summer at £31 million.
Tonali joined Brescia when he just 12 years old and was part of the team that won promotion from Serie A in the 2018 – 2019 season.
He made 35 Serie A appearances for them in the last campaign but could not prevent them going straight back down again.
Having won caps at under-19 and under-21 level, he was called-up for the first time to the senior squad in November 2018 and was eventually handed his debut as a substitute in a European qualifier away to Liechtenstein last October.
