Chelsea’s attempts to sign Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell could be under threat.
Reports at the weekend suggest that the Stamford Bridge side were on the verge of agreeing terms to sign the England international for a fee of £50 million.
However, there are now reports emerging that the heel injury, which saw him miss the end of Leicester’s season, may be mores serious than first appeared. There have been suggestions that he could be ruled out of action for a further six weeks, meaning that he will miss the start of the new season.
Chelsea begin their new campaign away to Brighton on September 14th.
Chilwell has already agreed personal terms with Frank Lampard’s side, and was ready to commit to a five=year deal with the West London side, worth £150,000 a week.
However, that deal could collapse depending on what a specialist rules having checked his heel injury.
