Manchester United are set to reignite their interest in Atlético Madrid midfielder Saúl Ñiguez.
They were heavily linked with a move for the Spanish international last summer, but, in the end, negotiations about a possible move proved fruitless.
However, the 25-year old, who is one of the highest regarded talents in Europe, is concerned that Atlético may no longer be able to compete at the highest level because of financial constraints in the wake of the Coid-19 pandemic.
And that means that he is ready to consider a move away from Diego Simeone’s men.
United are prepared to offer him a long-term deal at Old Trafford, and on significantly better terms than he is currently getting.
For his part, Ñiguez is reported to be attracted by the possibilities of playing alongside the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in the United midfield.
Ñiguez has won 19 full international caps for Spain.
