Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has been strongly linked with a move back to Italy this summer, with both AC Milan and Fiorentina said to interested in the former Sampdoria player.
However, reports have now emerged that he could form part of a swap deal with Roma defensive midfielder Amadou Diawara coming the other way.
Torreira is unhappy with his lack of first-team involvement in recent months at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta and has publicly claimed that at his age – 24 – he needs to be playing regularly.
Diawara is a defensive midfielder, who played for San Marino, Bologna and Napoli, before joining Roma at the start of last season, He played 31 games for them last season, scoring once. He has 10 full international caps for his country.
The Gunners already have a working relationship with Roma having lent, and then effectively sold Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan to them recently.
