Manchester City are ready to hijack moves by Liverpool to sign Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcántara in this summer window.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with the Spanish midfielder, who is set to leave the Allianz Arena after seven successful. However, now comes news that their main title rivals are ready to gazump them by offering more money for the 29-year old.
The Anfield side are not prepared to pay more than €30 million (£27 million) for Alcántara, a figure that City are prepared to out-bid.
Furthermore, Pep Guardiola already knows the player well. They were both at Barcelona together, and then at Bayern when the Spaniard was in charge there.
City regard Alcántara as a potential replacement for David Silva who has agreed to join Lazio on a three-year del when their Champions League campaign comes to an end.
