Smalling linked with Inter move

Chris Smalling has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated that the door is open to Smalling to be reintegrated back into the United set-up, but the former England centre-back is unlikely to be happy with limited first team football next season.

The 30-year old defender spent last season on loan with Roma but has now returned back to Old Trafford after United and the Serie side were unable to agree on a valuation to make the move permanent.

Instead he would welcome the chance to return to Italy, having settled so well there during  his time with Roma.

Inter Milan is fast becoming a Manchester United old-boys’ club. Romelu Lukaku moved there are at the start of the season and scored his 31st goal of the season in the Europa League quarter-final win over Bayer Leverkusen on Monday night. Ashley Young is on an extended loan deal with the Serie A side, and Alexis Sanchez has just converted his own loan into a permanent move.
