Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu is in line to make the short journey across West London to join newly promoted Fulham on loan for the coming season.
Ampadu, who is still only 19, spent the entirety of last season on loan in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. However, much to Chelsea’s frustration, he struggled for game time under Julian Nagelsman, only making seven appearances for the German club.
He is tipped to have a bright future at Stamford Bridge, but with his first-team opportunities next season likely to be very limited, it is felt that another loan move is the best thing for his development. Hopefully in an environment where he can get more experience of first-team football.
Norwich were also interested in Ampadu, who was signed from League 2’s Exeter City by Chelsea when he was just 16 years old, but Fulham appear to have won the race for the Welsh international.
