Manchester United are the latest club to express an interest in signing 22-year old Lille defender Gabriel, who is also wanted by PS, Napoli, Arsenal and Everton.
The 22 year old Brazilian was closely linked with a move to Goodison Park before the lockdown, and even visited Everton’s training ground. However, they have subsequently cooled on the move, potentially offering other clubs the chance to step in and sign him.
United are in the market for defensive reinforcements, with Chris Smalling’s loan move to Roma expected to be made permanent, although the two sides are still some way apart when it comes to valuation of the English centre-half.
Gabriel moved to Lille in 2017 from Brazil regional club Avai, and after loan spells with Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb, has established himself with the Ligue 1 side, for whom he has made 39 appearances in all competitions scoring twice.
