Borussia Dortmund have knocked back Manchester United’s initial bid for England winger Jadon Sancho.
United bid £89 million for the 20-year-old, but the Bundesliga side continue to hold out for their asking price of £109 million.
Now the onus is back on the Premier League side to make an improved offer which is more to the liking of the German team.
United have long been linked with a move for Sancho and have been boosted by the fact that they have Champions League money to look forward to next season, after their win at Leicester on Sunday secured a third place finish.
Sancho, who has been at Dortmund since joining them from Manchester City for a fee of £8 million in 2017 is due to return for pre-season training at the Bundesliga club later this week. It is still widely expected that a deal will be struck for a player who contributed 20 goals and the same number of assists for them last season.
