Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is the latest name linked with Manchester United as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.
And now the 24-year old Frenchman, who already has a glittering CV, having won domestic titles in each of his seasons as a professional, as well as cup honours with club and country – he was part of the France squad that won the World Cup two years ago – is on United’s radar.
The England winger remains their number one target, but with reportedly a gulf between what Borussia Dortmund want for the player, and what United are prepared (or able to pay), other options are being considered.
Reports suggest that Coman may be open to a new challenge, and that a loan move, perhaps with an option to buy, could be on the cards.
United’s transfer strategy this summer, as well as the money they have to spend, may be dependent on the outcome of their final Premier League game away at Leicester on Sunday. A win or draw guarantees them Champions League football next season, and the revenue boost that brings.
Defeat, and victory by Chelsea in their match with Wolves, will consign them to the Europa League for another year.
