Liverpool are considering making a summer move for Real Betis full-back Aissa Mandi.
The 28-year old Algerian international has only one year left on his current contract with the Spanish side, and Liverpool may have the opportunity to make a cheap deal of around £10 million because Betis are desperately need to raise funds as they struggle to cope with the financial aftermath of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Jurgen Klopp’s side want to add some defensive reinforcements this summer, especially in the full-back area where they are looking to add experienced cover to the pairing of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
They are also having to manage with the departure of Dejan Lovren, who is on the brink of sealing a move to the Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg.
Part of the appeal of Mandi – who is also on Newcastle’s radar – is his versatility; he can play anywhere across the back line.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
