Tottenham are being linked with a summer move for highly rated Italian midfielder Nicòla Zaniolo.
The 21-year old came through the Fiorentina youth system before joining Inter Milan, but did not make any first-team appearances for them before moving on to Roma, where he has quickly established a reputation for himself as one of the best young players in Italy. He has already appeared for the national side five times, scoring twice.
His season was interrupted after suffering a torn ACL in January, but he has recently returned to competitive action, scoring in the comfortable victory over Brescia.
Both Juventus and former club Inter Milan (who have a 15% sell-on clause) are interested in signing him but it is Spurs who are now amongst the front-runners.
Roma want €60 million (£54 million) for the player, whilst Spurs value him at €50 million (£45 million), so there may still be some negotiating to do before either side is ready to strike a deal.
Zaniolo scored the last goal in Roma’s 6 -1 thrashing of SPAL on Wednesday night.
