Tottenham are set to miss out on one of their main summer transfer targets are Southampton accepted a bid from Everton for their captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Although both clubs made offers for the 24-year old Dane, only the Merseyside club were prepared to match their valuation of him, with their offer worth up to £25 million.
Spurs valued Hojbjerg, who has one year left on his current contract at £15 million and wanted to construct a deal which would see full-back Kyle Walker-Peters make his loan move to Southampton into a permanent move.
However, the South Coast side are only interested in a straight cash deal, which now puts the onus back in Spurs’ court. Improve their offer to match Everton and move on to alternative transfer targets.
The player himself is thought to favour a move to North London but, unless there is a sudden change in the situation, it looks like he will be wearing the blue of Everton next season.
