Arsenal are in talks with several Bundesliga clubs about a loan move for next season for their Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.
The 22-year old has just come off another six month loan spell with German second division side Nürnberg, where he impressed and now he is set to return to the country, but this time to the Bundesliga, with both Stuttgart and Werder Bremen chasing his signature.
The Gunners have a surfeit of centre-halves and, with Mavropanos not figuring in Mikel Arteta’s plans, they are open to the move, not least because it helps reduce their wage bill.
Stuttgart may have the edge because their Sporting Director is Sven Mislintat, who was formerly head of recruitment at the Emirates. He was primarily responsible for bringing Mavropanos to Arsenal in the first place, with the club paying Greek side PAS Giannina £2.2 million for him when Arsène Wenger still managed the club.
