Willian has rejected a lucrative offer from David Beckham’s new MLS side Inter Miami.
They tried to tempt the 31-year old to switch the USA, but instead he has turned down the chance because he hopes to stay in the Premier League.
And now it seems that the way is clear for him to join Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham on a free transfer when his current short-term contract at Stamford Bridge runs down in a few weeks’ time.
Chelsea are still hoping that he will stay with them, but they are only prepared to offer him a new two-year deal, whilst Willian and his agent are holding out for three. There is still time for the impasse to be broken, but it is starting to run out.
Since the resumption of the season after lockdown, Willian has arguably been Chelsea’s best player, scoring four goals, all of them from dead ball situations, and providing an assist as well.
