Chelsea have opened negotiations with French side Lille over a deal for their striker Jonathan Ikone.
The 22-year old was enjoying an impressive season for the Ligue 1 side before the premature end to the French season occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
And Inter Milan are also showing interest in the striker who earned his first call-up to the French squad at the start of the season, and who ahs since earned four international caps.
Frank Lampard is looking to strengthen his striking options, with only Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham currently at his disposal. Timo Werner is joining the club in a £54 million deal from RB Leipzig, but he is expected to play-off the main striker when he hooks up with the squad.
The shortcomings of Chelsea’s attack were laid bare on Saturday, as they were heavily beaten 3- 0 away to Sheffield United.
