Fred is set to become the latest Manchester United player ready to commit his immediate future to the club.
The 27 year old Brazilian was signed from the Ukrainian side Shaktar Donetsk in 2019 for a fee of £52 million by Jose Mourinho, but initially struggled to adapt to life in England. At one stage he looked certain to leave the club but he has since enjoyed a transformation in fortunes, and has now become a mainstay of the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He is already under contract until 2023, but now is set to sign a new deal which will see his current £130,000 a week wage packet boosted, with United hoping he can help steer the club back into the Champions League for next season.
He is set to follow in the footsteps of his central midfield partner Scott McTominay, who, earlier this week, agreed a new five year contract at Old Trafford.
