Tottenham have joined the race to sign Brazilian defender Thiago Silva who is available on a free transfer this summer.
The 35 year old is set to leave PSG after eight seasons, with his current contract with the French champions coming to an end, and the Parisians not handing him a new deal.
That has awakened interest from clubs across Europe, with several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Everton eyeing his situation, and now they are set to be joined by Spurs. Jose Mourinho regards him as a like for like replacement from Jan Vertonghen who is also set to depart North London as a free agent.
Silva’s involvement with PSG is not completely over, despite the fact that the Ligue 1 season has been cancelled, and his side declared champions. He can still play for them in this season’s Champions League once UEFA reach a consensus as to how the tournament will be completed.
