Chelsea’s summer transfer splurge shows no signs of coming to an end.
They have already agreed deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, whilst there are strong rumours linking them with Leicester City and England full-back Ben Chiwell, and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.
And now comes news that they have opened discussionswith Brentford about a possible transfer for winger Saïd Benrahma, who has also attracted the attention of the likes of Arsenal and Leicester.
The Algerian international joined the Championship club in the summer of 2018 from French side Nice for £1.5 million, and has been a consistent performer for the West London side, scoring 21 goals and providing 25 assists in 79 appearances for them.
Described as the new Riyad Mahrez because of his style of play and also because of his Algerian ethnicity, the player is said to be flattered by the interest from Premier League club whilst insisting, in time-honoured fashion, that his immediate priority is to help Brentford in their promotion push when the season starts again.
