Arsenal have yet to make up their mind about whether to offer full-back Cedric Soares a contract extension.
The Southampton full-back moved to the Emirates on loan for the rest of the season in January, but has never played for the club because of an existing knee problem. The initial understanding was that he would sign for the Gunners on a free transfer this summer when his current deal with the Saints expires, but there is now doubt over his future in North London. The Portuguese international has taken no part in their two friendlies prior to the restart of the season, and has recently been pictured wearing a protective face mask.
And now they may not even offer him a contract extension to allow him to play for the club beyond June 30th.
If that is the case, supporters will want answers from the executive team why they sanctioned a move that has reportedly cost £1 million in loan fees, plus the £65,000 they have paid out a week for his wages.
