Dutch midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum is in talks about a new deal at Anfield.
The 28 year old’s current deal is set to end in June 2021, but now Liverpool are hopeful of expending that for at least three years after positive discussions between player and club.
Wijnaldum is keen to continue his career with the Champions League winners, and the terms are not an issue, but he wanted assurances first that he would continue to have a major role to play at the club before committing to an extension.
The Dutch international joined Liverpool from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016, and has since gone on to play for them 177 times, scoring 18 goals. That includes the 28 appearances he ahs made for Liverpool this season in the Premier League as they close in on their first league title in 30 years.
Liverpool are due to resume their league campaign away to Everton in the Merseyside derby on June 21st.
